María Luisa Méndez

Sociologist. She is currently the Director of the School of Sociology at the Universidad Diego Portales in Chile, and Principal Researcher in COES, in which she coordinates the line of Geography Conflict. Additionally, she is principal investigator on the project FONDECYT (Chilean Science Project) (2014-2018) "Upper middle class in Chile today on the old and new barriers, practices and costs of reproduction of class position". Her current research is set to study the subjective aspects of social stratification and mobility and building membership in urban neighborhoods. One of her areas of interest are urban conflicts around the residence / territorial belonging.
